Real User Monitoring (RUM)

Web and mobile application instrumentation We implement the Datadog RUM SDK in web applications (JavaScript, React, Angular, Vue, Next.js) and mobile applications (iOS, Android, React Native, Flutter). Instrumentation follows each framework’s recommended practices, minimizing the impact on frontend performance.

 

Core Web Vitals and frontend performance metrics We automatically capture the user experience metrics that matter most: Largest Contentful Paint (LCP), Interaction to Next Paint (INP), Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS), and First Input Delay (FID). These are the same indicators Google uses to rank pages — and the ones users perceive directly.

 

Frontend–backend correlation One of the most powerful capabilities of RUM + APM: when a user experiences slowness in the browser, Datadog lets you see exactly which API call, microservice, or database query is causing the problem — in a single click, without switching tools.

 

Frontend error analysis Automatic capture of JavaScript errors, network errors (4xx, 5xx), and mobile app crashes, with complete stack traces and user context at the time of the error (device, browser, geolocation, previous action).

Session Replay

User session playback Session Replay records and plays back what the user saw and did during their session: mouse movements, clicks, scrolling, completed fields, and errors encountered. It’s like watching a recording of the user’s screen, but enriched with RUM’s technical data.

 

UX friction diagnosis Lets you pinpoint exactly where users get stuck, which flows cause confusion, and which errors are affecting the experience — without needing user reports or manually reproducing the issue.

 

Privacy by design We configure Session Replay with masking of sensitive data (form fields, PII, card numbers) to ensure compliance with privacy policies and regulations such as GDPR or Argentina’s Law 25.326.

Synthetic Monitoring

Proactive testing of critical journeys We configure synthetic tests that simulate a real user’s actions across the business’s most critical flows: login, sign-up, checkout, search, onboarding. These tests run continuously, 24/7, from multiple geographic locations — catching problems before they reach real users.

 

API Testing API endpoint monitoring: availability, response time, response correctness (status codes, JSON schema, specific values). Essential for organizations exposing APIs to third parties or whose app depends on external integrations.

 

Private Locations for internal environments For applications that aren’t publicly exposed (staging environments, internal systems, intranets), we implement Synthetic Private Locations — agents deployed within the client’s network that run the same tests from inside the perimeter.

 

Synthetic–RUM–APM correlation Datadog’s synthetic tests are correlated with APM, so when a test fails, you can jump directly to the backend trace that generated the error — complete diagnosis in seconds.
